Your Departed Pets Will Always Be With You…

Your departed pets will always be near…

The pain is devastating after the loss of a beloved companion and friend.

It is a sad realization that all of the things that you did together will no longer happen.

They shared your home, your heart, and just about every aspect of your life.

The emptiness when they are gone can be too much to bear but there is one constant message that departed pets have shared with me over the years that can set your mind at ease and soften that pain in your heart.

Your pets are perfect in every way when they leave their body.

No need to worry about them they are just fine…

Upon their last breath, they will be greeted by another loved one, spirit guide, or angel and they will continue their journey as a spiritual being.

Your beloved pet will not be lost, scared, nor will they ever leave you.

Your souls are intertwined so no matter how hard you try you cannot break that connection.

Their messages are loud and clear…

No matter what happens to you including divorce, moving, new job, new baby, new pet, your beloved companions know what is going on in your life and love supersedes everything.

Your pets will never blame you for anything that happened. Blame is a human concept and is a form of self-punishment.

Your soul connection cannot be broken…

It may be difficult to sense their presence especially if you are deeply grieving. The pain causes a blanket of protection around you to prevent you from further distress. Be patient and know that your departed pet can hear you but it may take a while before you sense their presence.

Some pets are very obvious with their signs and make it very easy to sense them. Other pets don’t feel the need to make it obvious they are near as they are with you so much they conserve that energy for other adventures.

How To Invite Your departed Loved Ones…

Follow these six steps to invite your departed loved ones to visit or to send a sign that they are near.

1. Say a brief mantra/prayer of protection before any type of communication or energy work such as this example: “I call upon ( fill in the blank with …any or all of these: my highest and most powerful angels, spirit guides, Archangels, God/Goddess, Creator) and I ask to be fully and completely surrounded in divine White Light. Throughout the day may all my energy be kept separate and safe and I will allow only other energies of the Light to come through. I humbly thank you for your protection and guidance.”
2. Call your loved one specifically by name. When you say their name visualize them in a beautiful smiling memory.
3. Allow your love to resonate outward to them and imagine that love melts right into their heart and soul
4. Ask your loved one to show you a sign or send a message. Tell them to make it obvious.
5. Send their energy back by visualizing it drawing it back inside their soul. Bring your energy back into your heart the same way. Thank them for listening
6. Be open and expect a response. Pay attention to everything around you. Some signs appear at the strangest times or when you least expect it. Thank them immediately if you sense something and ask them to send more signs.

 

Your Grief and Guilt can Interrupt your Connection…

There is a time to grieve and mourn the loss of your loved one and that may cause your connection to be temporarily interrupted. Be gentle with yourself and patient as you navigate through the emotional roller coaster of your loss.

Just remember, your angel wants you to heal as soon as you can and move into healing when you are ready.

Your love is eternal and those bonds can never be broken.

You May Be the ‘Problem’ in Your Pet’s ‘Behavior Problem’

Is Your Pet Behaving badly?

YOU may be the problem, not your pet

If your pet is acting out or misbehaving ask yourself these three questions:

1) Am I expecting my pet to ‘figure out’ what I want?
2) Am I sending confusing messages of what I DON’T WANT to my pet?
3) Am I stressed out about other things that my pet may be picking up on?

If you answered, ‘Yes’ to any of these you may be the problem, not your pet.

1) Set your pet up for success. Don’t leave it up to them to ‘know’ what you want or ‘figure it out’. They are animals, not humans. Provide the environment they need for the end result you want. I’ve had many clients say, ‘They know they aren’t supposed to be on the kitchen counter.’ Okay, not really. What they ‘know’ is you leave them in a room where they can get up on the counter where there are yummy things to eat which is a powerful motivator to do what you have set them up to do. What they ‘know’ is you get upset and react to them when they jump on the counter but they don’t understand how the two things connect. They don’t reason like humans.  They do things because you allow them to and expect them to ‘figure it out’.

2) You may be sending mixed messages to your pet which can confuse them and make matters worse. If your pet is destroying things or not using the litter box your thoughts are real messages and when you think about what they have done in the past that goes out to them. Imagine how confused your pet is when they get reprimanded for doing exactly what you envisioned! Think about what you want not what you don’t want.

3) Pets are the barometers of our life. If you are happy so are they. If your home is balanced so are they. If you are nervous, anxious, stressed, sick, scared, etc your pet will absorb that energy and likely act out. All they know is your energy is unbalanced. They don’t understand it is your job or your kids or the bills.

For the best results, do this:

• Be proactive and provide an environment that sets your pet up for success, not failure
  Be clear in your thoughts and think in terms of what you want them to do not what you don’t want.
  Stay balanced, healthy, and calm and your pet will follow.

Can Animals Help Solve A Case?

It was during my law enforcement career that my psychic and intuitive abilities resurfaced. It was an awakening or a remembering of sorts. I was confused by the flood of information that I was receiving but fascinated at the same time.

 

I found out quite unexpectedly that pets on crime scenes could relay pertinent information about the events that took place before I arrived on the scene.

Their detailed information and ability to share images proved to be more reliable than most of the human eye-witnesses I  interviewed.

Graduation day!

Red Rocks Police Academy

September 2000

 

 

There was no substation for the Sheriff’s Office. We used our patrol cars as our ‘mobile offices’ with no computers or CAD systems.

We used a pen and piece of paper to log our calls for service.

Finally, the administration brought in an old single-wide trailer formerly used on a construction site with no restroom or running water as our temporary lodging.

We had to share metal desks, use antiquated computers with DOS programs on floppy discs to write our police reports and go next door into the Animal Control Facility to use the restroom.

Susie, the secretary in the photo with me was a chain smoker so the place constantly smelled like stale cigarettes.

Such luxury!

We were rescuing horses from an area we were not supposed to be in

 

My first day off of training as a full-time deputy sheriff for Park County Sheriff’s Office in Bailey, Colorado.

My training officer took the photo at mile marker 221 on Highway 285 with our state of the art equipment, a Polaroid camera!

My patrol car was an old Jeep Cherokee with over 200k miles on it, a stick shift, which I had never driven before in a mountain district.

The emergency brake did not work and I had to put a block of wood behind the tire to keep it from rolling away.

With 20 lbs of gear and gross, polyester man-pants, I was going to save the world from crime!

Are You Punishing Yourself for Your Pet’s Death?

We are quick to blame ourselves when a pet dies

 

It is not uncommon to blame ourselves for our pet’s death even if they died from natural causes. Grief brings about all kinds of painful thoughts of what we could have done or should have done to prevent their death. Our thoughts surface immediately and point the blame directly at us.

• – I should have sensed something was wrong
• – I should have been more diligent with their medicine
• – I should have taken them to the vet sooner
• – I could have been a better caretaker

 

When Accidents Happen…

Our ego wants to control that which we have no control over especially when accidents happen. We punish ourselves relentlessly and run the fateful scenario through our minds for days, weeks, or longer. Each time the pain goes deeper like a dagger plunging into your heart.

 

You may experience physical symptoms, insomnia, and depression.

It is a challenging and difficult time that none of us want to endure.

The key to releasing the stabbing pain of guilt is to practice releasing your ego

To understand how to release ego we have to have a clear understanding of what ego is. There are many definitions in the psychological arena and in the spiritual sense but here is an example:

 

Your ego is often defined as whatever comes to your mind when you think of yourself

The psychological definition includes your ideas about yourself, your beliefs, ideologies, social affiliations, desires, fears, and much more.

The spiritual definition includes a veil of thought that separates you from who you really are.

You are more than your body, more than your beliefs, more than your image.

You are a mighty and powerful spiritual being capable of anything you set your intention on accomplishing.

Am I normal to feel this way?

We instinctively search for answers or judge our actions when a pet dies. We are their caretakers and it is our job to make sure they are healthy and safe at all times. When something tragic happens we make ourselves the focus of everything that we feel went wrong. We start the cycle of guilt and we regret everything we did or didn’t do on the day of the incident. Our anger, pain, or blame can also be directed at the veterinarian, our loved ones, or even the pet that died.

Ego takes over our thoughts and we start a cycle of self-punishment

 

• – We think, “I am guilty so therefore I should suffer…”
• – Suffering gives us control (ego again)  over a situation we feel is out of control.
• – We can’t get our pet back but we can continue to punish ourselves.

 

Is your ego in control of your thoughts?

To determine if your ego is in control ask yourself these questions:

 

• Did you set out that day to harm your pet?
• Did you intentionally set the stage for events to happen as they did?
• Did you do everything in your power to end your pet’s life?
• Did you willingly kill them either by your hand or by some other object?

 

If the answer is no then you are not responsible for their death.

Even if you knew in the back of your mind that you shouldn’t have done what you did that is ego trying to stay in the driver’s seat of your thoughts.

You are a victim of unfortunate circumstances brought about by an unplanned series of events.

You are no more responsible for your pet’s death then you are their birth

You spend your entire life caring for your pet. You have fed, bathed, clipped, medicated, hugged, loved, and snuggled with that pet and done everything in your power to give them a wonderful and loving home.

You are not an evil person deserving of punishment…

 

Ego is driving your guilt so it can stay in control of your life. When you release your ego, you release all the guilt associated with events that are unintentional.

You never intended to harm your pet nor did you wake up that day and decide to unlatch the gate which they escaped from.

You didn’t place them in front of the vehicle that hit them, nor did you place the poison/toxin in their mouth to ingest.

 

 

The more appropriate expression of your feelings may sound like this:

• – I am angry at myself for leaving the gate unlatched.
• – I am angry at myself for not taking my pet to the vet sooner.
• – I am angry at myself for letting my pet off-leash or out of my sight
• – I am sad and lonely and I miss the life we shared

When you place the blame on yourself you place yourself in a state of eternal punishment and nothing will convince you that you are not guilty.

This endless circle of blame envelopes every thought and paralyzes your happiness.

You continually feel bad about the incident and the circle of devastation continues.

What can I do to release ego and pain?

You can start by saying these three simple words:

“I forgive myself.”

 

Feeling guilty does not serve you or your departed pet.

 

You can change your path of self-punishment

Positive affirmations allow you to shift your perspective and begin the journey into healing.

Say them often and say them out loud.

Be patient. It takes time to work through grief.

Post little notes around your home or in your car.

Only you can change your thoughts and stop punishing yourself…

 

 

 

If you aren’t ready to say these words out loud, ‘I am not guilty for the death of my pet,’ then it may be time to seek professional help from a certified grief counselor.

After conducting thousands of afterlife sessions with departed pets not one time has a pet told me that their human caretaker was responsible for their death. Nor have they said their life was ended too soon. The majority of pets say they were ready to go sooner than later as we tend to keep them here longer for our own sake.

Our self-punishment is completely unnecessary and only fuels our ego to continue to torture our soul.

The 6 Simple Steps to Get Messages From Your Departed Pets

After your pet leaves this world they transform from having a physical experience into an energetic experience. Everything they do after the moment of physical death is now governed by their thoughts and intention.  For instance, if they want to relax on the sofa with you all they have to do is decide that is what they want and they will immediately join you on the sofa. If they want to go to the beach or the mountains or follow you around the house all they have to do is make up their minds to do so.

 

Your success is based on trust and setting your intention

Just like in your dreams at night, all movement and communication are controlled telepathically. Connecting with them is simple since we are also energetic beings. Your pets can sense your thoughts telepathically and because they love you so much they are always near. All you need to do is make up your mind to connect with them, follow the simple steps below, and watch for their signs.

 

 

The 6 Simple Steps to Connect with a Departed Pet:

Before any communication with the spirit realm, it is imperative to properly surround yourself in a protective bubble of White Light. In a reverent manner, say a prayer of protection such as my favorite:

“As we enter into this sacred space I invite (pet’s name) to join me as I surround us all in Divine Light. I ask that the messages I am about to receive be of the highest possible vibration serving the highest and best good for all involved, allowing only energies of the Light to come through.”

Step 1

Gaze at your pet’s photo or close your eyes and imagine they are right next to you. Tell your pet out loud or quietly in your mind that you would like to feel them near you or get a message from them.

 

Step 2

Ask for a BIG SIGN! Tell your pet to make it an obvious message from them and tell them that you are open to whatever they send.

 

Step 3

Trust what comes to you in any form. It may happen immediately or it may take some time as you learn to quiet your mind.

 

Step 4

Ask them to join you during your dreams and imagine you are surrounding them with loving hugs, affection, and positive energy

 

Step 5 

Avoid feeling guilty, sad, remorseful, or full of regrets. That can cause an immediate disconnect. Be excited if you see something, feel something, or know something! The more excitement you show the more signs you will receive.

 

Common Mistakes You Must Avoid …

 

The biggest mistakes most people make is they disregard and doubt the messages from their departed pets. They don’t trust the feelings or images, they think it is their overactive imagination or just wishful thinking. Don’t to that!

 

Helpful hints…

 

Stay open, loving, inviting, and positive for the best results. Your departed pet needs a lot of energy to send you a message. Give your pet a fuel source so they have something to draw upon such as any of the following:

1. Crystals such as quartz, amethyst, or selenite (fully cleansed and charged)
2. A battery pack – Yes, you heard right! I keep a large pack of fresh batteries on my desk to provide fuel to the spirits during my sessions.
3. Smudge yourself and your home with palo santo or sage to clear any negative or unwanted energy and enhance clear communication
4. Be in a balanced state of mind emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

 

 

Step 6

The most important step of all is to keep their memory alive and say their name often. It is like music to their ears. Remember, make their life more important than their death. Celebrate the magic you shared together no matter how long or short it was.

The 7 Myths About Pet Loss Grief

 

The final moments with your pet have come and gone and now grief sets in…

Even though grief is a universal reaction to any kind of loss it can be surrounded by misconceptions and myths. Here are seven of the most common myths about grief from the loss of a pet and explanations to help loosen the grip of grief and move into healing.

Myth #1 – I should have known something was wrong and acted sooner

Fact: Animals are biologically pre-programmed to hide pain, illness, or disease unless you are trained to identify the subtle signs. It is a survival instinct ingrained in their DNA. Your role is caretaker, not necessarily healer. Your task is to provide them with the best life you can and to love them fiercely. You cannot know what the end looks like for your pet any more than you can know what your own end of life looks like. Guilt can feel overwhelming and you may feel like you are drowning in pain. Do the best you can with the highest and best of intentions for your pet.

Myth #2 – I killed my pet. I am playing God and have no right to do so.

Fact: Your pets want a good quality of life, not a long life filled with pain and discomfort. They don’t deserve prolonged suffering and pain. Euthanasia can be a gift in which you can halt suffering. Facing the choice of euthanasia can be one of the worst and most difficult choices a pet parent may ever have to make, but at times it shows the immense love and compassion shared. It is a selfless act when you want to hold on but know that your pets deserve more, no matter how painful it is to let go.

Myth #3 – It is selfish to euthanize my pet

Fact: Euthanasia is a compassionate and humane way to end the intense suffering or declining quality of life of your companion animal. Viewed in this context, it would be selfish to unnecessarily prolong the suffering of a seriously ill or injured animal. When your pet cannot eat, drink, or manage themselves in their daily habits it is not fun for them to be in a body that is failing them. Ask yourself this: Whose needs and best interests are being served – you or your animal companion? It is selfish to keep them here just because you are not ready to say goodbye.

Myth #4 – Intense grief is a sign of weakness, poor character, and I shouldn’t be this upset it was just a pet

Fact:  Anyone who tells you that is being judgmental, extremely inconsiderate, and they are of poor character, not you. Experiencing powerful feelings of distress over the loss of a beloved animal companion is normal and healthy. People who have strong feelings about the loss of a pet have those deep feelings because they are capable of intimate attachments and deep emotional bonding. This is something to be proud of, not a sign of weakness or poor character.

Myth #5 – Pet loss is insignificant compared to the loss of human life

Fact: The loss of a beloved animal companion can be even more emotionally devastating than the loss of a human friend or relative. You spend more time with your pets than you do with most of the people in your life. Your pets are always happy to see you, excited to be with you, they don’t set out to hurt you, cheat on you, or betray you in any way. They are the purest and most loving relationship that many of us ever experience in our lives. Our relationships with other humans can be loving and passionate but also disjointed and unhealthy. Losing a pet is like losing your best friend. It is just as significant of a loss, if not more, than losing a human loved one.

Myth #6 – No one understands my pain or what I’m going through

Fact: While grief is a personal journey and no one can feel the pain and loss you feel for your pet there are many others who have had similar experiences with their pets. Holding on to your pain or trying to ignore it can lead to unsolved grief and create havoc in your life. Find healthy ways to express your feelings in a safe and supportive environment to move into a place of healing. Reach out to grief support groups or licensed grief support professionals to help you navigate through your feelings.

Myth #7 – I’m never getting another pet. This was just too painful.

Fact: Yes, it is painful to lose a beloved companion there is no doubt about it. However, your departed pets want you to be happy and live a full and complete life. Your happiness directly affects your departed pet as they are still with you and sharing your energy. When you open your heart and home to a new companion, the love you show that new companion will have a positive effect on your departed pet. They will feel the love that you are sharing with your new companion. Don’t worry about them feeling jealous or that you are replacing them. Those are human concerns and I have never had a single pet tell me they were upset about a new addition to the family. Quite the contrary, in fact.

Grief is a natural response to the loss of a companion animal. It is part of the experience you and your pet were meant to share together. Your grief is uniquely your own and while no one can feel what you are feeling there are many of us who have also experienced a painful loss.

Allow yourself plenty of time to experience all of the emotions from grief. There are no shortcuts through the pain. It is a reflection of deep, true love to mourn so deeply. You will know you are on the road to healing when you think of your pet and happy memories come to mind. When you no longer feel the sadness or the tears just the good times you shared. Consider yourself fortunate to have shared your life with a companion pet who was so very hard to say goodbye to.

I truly believe we never get over the loss of a beloved pet but we somehow get through it. We learn how to live our lives without them by celebrating the memories and making their life more important than their death.

Remember, you are and always have been the most important person in the world to your pet and even after they leave their physical body behind, there is nowhere else they would rather be than with you.

Signs From Your Departed Pets

 

You are sound asleep when you suddenly feel a cat jump up and walk across your bed. You open your eyes and in the darkness you don’t see anything. You switch the light on and look all around but there is nothing there. Normally, this wouldn’t raise an eyebrow with you unless your only cat died a few months ago. 

Do our departed pets visit us?

Our departed pets will often visit us after they pass away and send us signs to let us know they are near. A visitation can occur at any time but the most common incidences occur during the night. When we are asleep, our brains relax and we enter into a deep REM (Rapid Eye Movement) state. We are much more open to receiving a visit from our departed pets during this phase of sleep. We remember vivid details of the visitation that seem so real. We may feel our pets fur, we may remember running or playing with them, we may even feel them snuggle in next to us. Most of us will brush this off as just a dream but in reality, it is an actual visit from our departed pet.

Other signs they are near

Some departed pets are very vocal and will make a noise to get your attention. They may whine, scratch at the door, or knock something over. Others will manifest in partial or full form and you may see a fleeting glimpse of them out of the corner of your eye. You may also feel whiskers on your face or feel them brush against your leg. Some pets get very creative and will leave you a feather, a tuft of fur, or a paw print to let you know they are near.

Birds, butterflies, and feathers

Other signs from your departed pets include seeing birds such as cardinals, hummingbirds, robins, or hawks. They also send butterflies, ladybugs, crickets, or feathers in very obvious places so we are sure to notice and think of them.

By asking for more signs, you are giving your departed pet the attention they are seeking and you will likely receive more messages.

Invite your departed pets to visit

Your departed pets need energy or spiritual fuel to send signs. They don’t have a physical body so they have to draw upon an energy source to communicate with you. Spiritual fuel can be supplied through any item that conducts energy such as quartz crystals, batteries, an indoor fountain. If you feel you have not received any signs from your pet it is likely have sent you signs you just haven’t noticed them. Some signs may be very subtle and if you aren’t paying attention or if your mind is always racing with thoughts, text messages, or other distractions, you may miss them. Remember, they don’t intend to scare you with their visitations they just want you to know they love you, they are near you, and still hanging around in their favorite places.

It takes a lot of energy for your pet to make a noise or to appear so if this happens to you be sure you acknowledge their presence and encourage them to send more signs. If you ignore them they may stop trying in order to conserve their precious energy.

It won’t harm your pet

Don’t worry about depleting your departed pet’s energy or harming them by asking them to send more signs. They love it that you are thinking about them and you can always ‘top off their tank’ so to speak with spiritual fuel by imagining their heart is a gas tank and your loving thoughts are fuel. Top them off with lots of happy memories too.
