Are You Selfishly Keeping Your Departed Pet Near?

Are You Sending Agonizing Messages to Your Pet?
July 11, 2020
You May Be the ‘Problem’ in Your Pet’s ‘Behavior Problem’
August 18, 2020

“Am I being selfish? I don’t want my pet’s soul to leave me…”

It was a painful email message from a grief-stricken pet parent, Larissa.
The love of her life, Maisey, had just transitioned after a long, happy life together.
Larissa was broken from the pain and felt like she was sabotaging her beloved dog’s journey by begging for signs she was okay and still near.
“I don’t feel anything. It’s like I’m dead without her. I am numb from the pain. I beg her every day to give me some kind of sign. Is it selfish of me to keep her here? Is it wrong for me to not want her to soul to leave me? I can’t bear the thought of going through the rest of my life without her face. I miss her so much.”
It is devastating to think our pets are gone forever.
But that just isn’t what I have been shown in thousands upon thousands of sessions with departed pets.
Your pets are still with you and will always be near. You cannot sabotage your pet’s spiritual journey. Their souls have a purpose and being with you is part of that purpose even from the Other Side.
Some may stay near and others may have other tasks ahead that take them into other realms or levels of the afterlife but the bonds of love will always tie you together.

Nothing you can do or say will steer them off course…

In fact, quite the opposite is true. Your departed pets love the attention and the positive energy you send then when you remember your life together. They are drawn to your powerful thoughts and images when you think about your happy memories together. More than anything, they want you to know they are alive and well in spirit and the bonds of love will never end. Ever.
No amount of begging, pleading, or wishing will alter a pet on their soul’s path. They are powerful spiritual beings with a divine purpose in life.
They honor us with their love and devotion in days past, today, tomorrow, and all the days ahead.

You mentioned that pets may have other tasks ahead that take them into other realms or levels of the afterlife. Could you describe this in further detail? What kinds of things do they do??

    • Karen Anderson says:

Debbie, the other tasks are so numerous but the most common are: Greeting other pets that have no families, greeting children who have transitioned, helping other guides/angels, merging with collective soul groups, greeting and guiding wild animals, and helping human souls who are reluctant to move into the Light. They are also tasked with having fun, going on adventures, exploring their new realms, and bringing happiness and joy to us. Some will linger near the other pets they left behind if they are having a hard time with their grief.

  2. Mariah says:

This is so important for pet lovers to know. It doesn’t diminish me from missing their physical presence, but brings a comfort to me to know they are with me in spirit~~as I’m wiping away my tears…

    • Karen Anderson says:

It is devastating to worry that they would leave us so I agree, this is so important for pet lovers to know.

  3. Joanne Burden says:

    Hi Karen,
Everything you say really hits home, as I’m sure so many people will agree. They are all common feelings, fears and beliefs we all have. I actually was just wondering whether It pulled my sweet beloved furry angel down by asking her to show me signs and to always stay near.
Thank you Karen, I will NEVER be tired of what you love to share. Your words are so comforting and many of us have similar questions.
Keep safe and I really look forward to our next session.
    So much Love,
Joanne and little Sofi’s beautiful spirit. 💗

    • Karen Anderson says:

Joanne, you are so sweet and I appreciate your kind words more than you will ever know. How very lucky your sweet angel, Sofi is to be loved by you.

  4. Sheila Carden says:

I feel the same way. My beagle Comet passed on Dec 3rd and I still have a difficult time with the loss. I miss him so much. I think of him first thing in the morning, all day long and into the evening until I fall asleep. Even though I have another beagle, I can’t stop thinking about Comet

    • Karen Anderson says:

Sheila, I’m sure he never wants you to stop thinking of him! That love comes through so strong for him. He will always be with you.

  5. Joanna Olsson says:

Thank you for this. I so needed to hear this. Even though Måns has been gone 3 years now, my hubby & I still talk & think of him fondly. I was complaining that I hadn’t dreamt of him for awhile & the next day, he appeared in my hubby’s dream. And I dreamt of him about a week ago. ❤️ He is forever loved & in our hearts.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Joanna, I’m so glad this is helping you on your journey. Even though it has been three years the pain can still be devastating. Your angel is so lucky to have you and his daddy as parents who love him and think of him often.

  6. donna ray says:

HELLLO KAREN, I HAVE READ YOUR BOOK ON THE AFTERLIFE OF OUR ANIMALS AND I AM GRIEVING OVER OUR BOY WINSTON, 8 YRS OLD WHO DIED OF LYMPHOMA AND I DID EVERYTHING I COULD TO KEEP HIM ALIVE , YET WE HAD TO LET GO! HE WAS OUR VERY BEST FRIEND AND A TRUE SOUL CONNECTION!! I HAVE NEVER EVER GRIEVED A DOG SO BAD AND I HAVE TO SAY GRIEVED HIM AS MUCH AS SOME PEOPLE WHO PASSED.I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU IF I MAY WHEN YOU SAY YOU ‘SPEAK’ TO THE ANIMALS AND THEY REPLY , I WAS CURIUOUS AS TO DO YOU MEAN THE ‘ENERGY’HOW THEY ‘REPLY’ TO YOU BEING THAT ANIMALS DO NOT SPEAK! I HAVE ALWAYS FELT I HAD A DEEP CONNECTION TO FORESEE OR TO ‘KNOW’ THINGS BEFORE THEY OCCUR IN WAYS YET NEVER HAVING IT CONFIRMED, MY QUESTION TO YOU IS CAN YOU TELL ME ANYTHING about our boy yet (some people have helped me on the group abit) yet I an curious as to what the animals ‘speak’ do you mean as in the’ energy ‘since they have no speech.. thank you so much , and I look forward to so much more.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Hi Donna, thank you for your beautiful note. Animals send an energetic message that I am able to translate into ‘English’ or into an image, sound or message that I understand. I am clairaudient so I mainly hear their words but it is in my voice in my head. It is like my thought only it isn’t my thought. I’m glad you have my book, The Amazing Afterlife of Animals. In my first book, Hear All Creatures, I go into great detail about this and how I learned to understand their language. As part of the FB group, you will see how many others are also very good communicators and can understand their messages. It is just a skill like piano or tennis, the more you practice the better you become. I am not conducting sessions at this time so I won’t be able to share any details about your angel. I am sorry about that but I have a full calendar at this time. You are mainly clairvoyant, meaning you can foresee things that you couldn’t otherwise know. You may also be claircognizant which is a sense of knowing something you couldn’t possibly know. So you see, you can do this too! Now, just practice with pets you do not know to build confidence. I hope this answers your questions and thank you for sharing your experience.

  7. Renee Spencer says:

Thank you for this message. It came at just the right time for me as I was just wondering about this very topic, it seems the longer my beloved canine companion is gone, the less signs I’ve been seeing.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Renee, I’m so glad this has helped you. It may feel like you sense them less and less but that is perfect and in balance with their spiritual journey. They become more transparent the longer they are in spirit. Their signs are ever so subtle and you may be used to his energy so you don’t feel it as you normally would. Fear not, your angel will always be with you.

  8. Margie says:

Rowdy left me in 2011. I have moved on and have other corgis that I love dearly, but I think of Rowdy every day. I have had many animals in my life, but Rowdy was so special. Thank you for helping me communicate with him with our sessions. I have wondered at times if he has moved on, but I can still feel him here when I need him by my side.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Margie, they will all continue on a spiritual journey of love and growth but they will always stay connected. I’m so happy he has you as his mom to love him and think of him so often!

  9. Anne Kinsman says:

I lost my beloved Cooki one week ago today and my heart is shattered. She was my life. When I think of having “freed” her from the body that was no longer serving her, it helps a bit. But sometimes I think I will die of a broken heart … because part of me died when she did. I feel that the only thing that could possibly help would be to “know” that her soul lives on, but I have a skeptical side that has trouble trusting in the unseen. And yet, the only thing that would make any sense at all would be for that sweet soul to be finally at peace in another form.
I have just received your book “The Amazing Afterlife of Animals” and look forward to reading it. I heard you interviewed by Suzanne Giesemann and you both were so very reassuring.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Anne, thank you for ordering my book and listening to the show with the lovely Suzanne Giesemann. You are right to be skeptical, it is healthy to be. You are doing the best thing you can and that is to get information and to learn more about what happens when you lose a beloved pet. My book will help you tremendously and I am so glad you have it. The bonds of love never die. Sending love and healing

  10. Judy Stansbury says:

Oh Karen, I really needed to hear this! I have not felt Celine as close and received the message she had moved to a higher level. I am so excited for her but felt heartbroken that I may not feel her presence anymore. Thank you for sharing your insights with us, I feel like a sad veil has been lifted.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Judy, I am so glad to hear this is helping you understand the process your Celine is going through. It serves us on a higher level but on a conscious human level it seems very lonely as they continue on their journey. Trust that she is always near and loving you every moment. Speak to her as if she is there with you and know that you will always be connected. Sending love and healing

  11. Lynne Roberts says:

We lost our Bichon, Winston, in February of this year. It has been six months and my heart still hurts and the tears still flow. I think of him all the time. I ask everyday that he send me a sign to let me know he is still here. I feel like I have not received a sign. Is my grief so strong that his signs cannot get through to me? We were so very close. He slept in bed with us making sure that he was touching a part of us. He was upset the times I did have to leave him for a while and he was so happy when I came home, he would bark and cry and give me kisses all at the same time. He followed me everywhere which is why I do not understand this. Karen, am I doing something wrong? I miss him so much. I have your book and read it three times. It helps me for a little while and then my heart breaks again. What should I do?

    • Karen Anderson says:

Lynne, I am so sorry you are hurting so badly. I hope you have my book to ease your pain. The ones that are with us all the time don’t feel a need to send a sign or message as boldly as those that stop by for a visit. His energy is always near so you will become desensitized to his presence. We become oblivious to their subtle signs. The most highly evolved souls are so light and transparent they are difficult to sense. That doesn’t mean they are not there. Don’t worry one bit. He is with you and loves you with all of his heart. Just keep talking to him as if he is right there. In time, you may suddenly breakthrough and begin to sense his presence. Pay attention to dream visitations too.

  12. Cathy says:

Thank you, Karen. My sweet Iggy passed yesterday after 13 1/2 years together and my heart is in tatters. It is excruciating to think I will never see him again. Knowing he is okay would go a long way toward helping me heal. How does one start to heal?

    • Karen Anderson says:

Hi Cathy, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for you. I know what you mean, it would be devastating to never see him again, and fortunately for all that just isn’t how this works. Healing begins slowly as you move through the grieving process. Take your time, honor your feelings. There is a blog post that helps with healing click here. . In time, healing will begin and you will move through the final stages of grief. I hope you have my book, The Amazing Afterlife of Animals, as I can help you heal through those chapters. Sending love and healing.

  13. Carrie Purcell(Smith) says:

Karen, I love getting your emails. Don’t ever worry about flooding my inbox! I’m fact, I would love more! Thank you for this email in particular. I worry sometimes because I’m still grieving. I do talk to Lexi and have memories running through my mind, much like a home movie in my brain. Just when I feel as if I don’t feel her spirit, I play that home movie in my mind, and poof! I get something from her. It is comforting to know she’s with me, but also doing wonderful things like helping other pets, wild animals, children, etc into the afterlife. You are helping me more than you’ll ever know. I can’t wait for your calendar for sessions lightens up! I would love to have a session someday. Until then, I’ll wait my turn. ❤

    • Karen Anderson says:

Carrie, you are so sweet! Thank you for that! It drives me nuts when I opt-in to someone I want to learn more about and all they do is flood my inbox with a bunch of blah blah blah. Soooo…as I mentioned I try very hard to only give pertinent, valuable stories and insights. Don’t worry about your grief. It is going to take a while to work through all the layers of emotions and pain for your loss. Your pain is deep, and there is a lot of growth ahead for your soul’s purpose. Those experiences while extremely painful are extremely powerful and life-changing. You are on a spiritual awakening journey and Lexi is your guide. I hope to share her messages with you some day. She is a beautiful soul. Sending love and healing

  14. Erin says:

Karen-are animals able to reincarnate into other species once they have passed. I just adopted some chickens and one of them has the same energy as my beloved dog on the other side. I feel like it’s her in a bird’s body.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Yes! I write about this in my book, The Amazing Afterlife of Animals. The most common reincarnations are same species such as a dog coming back as a dog, but I have found that anything is possible. There is no rule book or checklist. If it is in the highest and best interest for that particular soul then anything is possible. Ask your chicken to give you a clear sign of your beloved dog. Some will and some won’t but it doesn’t hurt to ask!

  15. Samantha says:

Oh, this fits bring me so much comfort, thank you, Karen.
I have read much about other realms and believe from many mediums they are much like this one…only better! But I do worry…in your experience, do you think that even if they have other tasks or enter into more advanced realms, are they often still near us? And Can they still hear us?

    • Karen Anderson says:

I can only share my experiences from over 20,000 sessions. Yes, they stay with us even if they are doing other tasks. They love you. That bond is never broken. It gets stronger over time. Yes, they hear us. They see us, they feel us. It is without a physical body so it is on an intuitive level similar to our dreams. In our dreams, we recognize others without seeing their faces or talking out loud. We know it is them by soul recognition. Same with our pets. Soul recognition binds us together.

  16. Irena Savic says:

But HOW can you KNOW this for sure? Though it is very consoling, I cannot help but wonder because in fact no one can know for sure….
I personally had tens of signs from my fur baby boy Lajk whom we lost shockingly out of the blue last year…..

    • Karen Anderson says:

When thousands upon thousands of pets tell me their experience includes staying connected to their humans, it is very clear. Can it be proven? Some day you will know. If they didn’t stay connected to us I wouldn’t be able to communicate with them and obtain details about your life. They would be detached and uninvolved. Quite the opposite is true. So through a series of deductions, one can make the assumption based on their messages. Scientific study? Hardly. But, not a single pet I’ve connected with in over 23 years has said they are not with their human. That is proof for me!

  17. Susan Hall says:

Karen, if my girl wants to reincarnate and come back to me does this mean she leaves her afterlife? Also, will she remember us since she her spirit will be in the body of another pup? I do not understand much of this process.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Susan, yes she leaves her afterlife to reincarnate. She will remember you on a higher level, a soul-level not necessarily a conscious level, like, “Hey, you’re my mom and dad, yay!”. It will be more like a recognition such as when we recognize someone who is in our dreams. That is the best way to describe it. She may show you very obvious signs that you recognize from her last life with you or very subtle signs. I write more about this in my book, The Amazing Afterlife of Animals and will go into greater detail in my next book which I am writing now. Thanks for your question! Sending love.

  18. Christina Profico says:

Thank you Karen for your message! I lost my sweet pug Misha nine months ago, and it is still so very hard. The grief will just suddenly wash over me like a wave, and I am in tears. She was my little girl and my soulmate. I am the process of reading your book, The Amazing Afterlife of Animals now and I am enjoying your insights immensely. I have had a deep belief in the Other Side since my grandmother passed away 15 years ago and have always felt a continued connection to her spirit. I prayed to her before Misha passed that my grandmother would take care of Misha when she reached the Other Side, and I hope in my heart they are together. My co-workers gave me a beautiful necklace with a dog paw and angel wing charms that I wear everyday to remember Misha, and it one way I keep her memory alive.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Christina, I am so sorry for the loss of your angel, Misha. I can’t imagine how devastated you must be. I have no doubt that your grandmother greeted your angel. They are both part of your soul group and you are the common denominator. So even if they did not know each other in life, they will be connected in the afterlife because they both are connected to you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me and may each chapter of my book bring you closer to healing. Sending love.

  19. Colleen says:

It’s been over a year since Tipper left. I have found your book and this app very helpful. I have learned I still have a lot to learn.
I seemed to have been sent a new dog who my husband really has become attached to. He name is now Duke and I’m wondering about his story and I’m learning to be open to what he is teaching me.
    Thank you.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Colleen, I am so sorry for the loss of your angel, Tipper. Even after a year, the grief can still affect us as those bonds of love are so strong. Thank you for downloading my app. I hope you find the answers you seek within the topics. How very special to have Duke in your life. Our departed pets will often send us a new love. One that they know we will benefit from in years to come. Sending love and healing

  20. Michele C Brown says:

Hi, l read your second book first and now reading your first. My dog Max passed on 4/29/20. His presence was very strong and he even moved things around the first six weeks. Now, l don’t sense him at all. His birthday was 8/13 and l asked for a sign but didn’t get one. Just miss him so much. Want to know he’s okay.

    • Karen Anderson says:

      Michele,
Some pets are very obvious with their signs. You’ll see their names over and over, hear a song that reminds you of them, find their fur, whisker, treat or toy somewhere you know you didn’t leave it. But others are less obvious. That usually indicates they are will you so much the don’t feel the need to make their presence known. Also, you will be less likely to ‘sense’ them as you are used to their energy being near whether or not you are consciously aware of it, so in essence you are desensitized to their presence. Sometimes a sign will come when you least expect it so just keep your eyes and ears open for any subtle clues. Know that whether or not you notice them, your angel, Max is likely doing his best to let you know he is right by your side. Thank you for reading my books. May each chapter bring you closer to healing.

  21. Christine Sable says:

It personally took me a very long time to receive signs from my dog, Champ. I was broken hearted that I did not get signs and messages from him right away, like I did with other pets I have had. I did a reading with you Karen a couple of years ago and it was so beneficial. Right after that I started to get more signs and messages.
One of the best signs was this: I was looking at boats at the time, mostly online. There was one, in particular, an older houseboat, that I thought was really cool. On one of the photos of the boat, I noticed the back of it had the boat’s name. It said “Champ’s Life”. I thought that was such a cool sign from him.
I also was pointed to a message that a medium wrote about another person who had a dog named Champ. While the original message was not for me specifically, in her video that I just happened to watch, she talked about a dog named Champ and how his owner felt a lot of guilt for the pain he went through in his final days, but that the dog remembered only love and appreciated all of his owner’s decisions.
Wow, that totally described my situation.
The fact that I saw that message on a video, around this time, even though it was for another person, made me feel like my dog was trying to also get a message to me. This medium has hundreds of videos and the fact that I just happened to see that one, in particular, is amusing. So, to all who are waiting for a sign…it will come in its own good time.
Just remember that there is no time on the other side, what feels like months or years to you is only a flash of a moment to souls that have crossed over.
Past present and future all exist in the same space for them, so they are not “waiting” to give you a sign. It has probably already been given and you just have not received it yet. Trust in the universe and know your pet loves you!

    • Karen Anderson says:

Christine, thank you for sharing this very special experience with me. I love that Champ repeatedly shared his name! And an unusual name you don’t see all over the place, right?
Yes, in time when you are ready you will receive the signs.
Our pets try really hard to let us know they are with us and around us…but think about what they have to accomplish without a physical body to do so.
That is why it is so important to be grateful for the smallest sign, dream, feeling, sensation that you have! Know they are trying with all their might to get your attention!
I’m honored to be a part of your journey. I remember our session and Champ is an amazing and very special angel. How lucky both of you are!
      Big hugs to you.

  22. Brenda Jones says:

I am very attached to cattle, unfortunately a few had to go to the auction which I have no control over and I cry everytiime I think of them and they were attached to o me also and I took very good care of them.
What happens when they go to the other side??
    Are they gonna be okay??

    • Karen Anderson says:

Brenda, I am so sorry this is very disturbing and I have struggled with this in the past too. I have had sessions in the past with clients who had cows, cattle, and calves and they were all doing just fine on the Other Side. There is no difference in the afterlife experience for livestock. They experience the same joy, love, and comfort when they transition. I hope that helps ease your mind. Sending love and healing

  23. Jeff Zarr says:

Hi Karen, You have been such an inspiration, I am almost done reading The Amazing Afterlife. I have been so depressed with my loss of Ellie, my “heart” dog, and closest soul that I have ever gotten to my whole life. I have had many gifts since she transitioned. She has turned on the kitchen light with the motion sensor almost every day since she transitioned. I still go on our walks every day and listen to our favorite songs. Last week, the music softened and I clearly heard her bark 3x, then the music went back up. I have a question, when you say their soul becomes more “transparent,” what do you mean?

    • Karen Anderson says:

Jeff, I am so sorry for the loss of your heart dog, Ellie. I can’t imagine how devastated you must be. It warms my heart to hear that my book has helped you on your journey through grief. It sounds like she is really active in letting you know she is always near and still a part of your life. How special all of those messages are! Please be excited and thank her when she does that! The more you react and show your gratitude the more she may send. As far as being ‘transparent’ it means they become less attached to the physical world and their soul becomes lighter. That may make them harder to sense. Imagine a feather. It’s super light. Now imagine a penny. There is much more weight and it is more solid. The feather is their soul as they become more transparent. The penny is like their soul just after they transition. Does that make sense? Big hugs, healing, and love to you…

  24. Catherine Murphy says:

If they are involved in other things, will we see them when we die or perhaps they will not be in the same place that we will be in. I want, above all else, to see my dogs who have passed on the other side when I do. I kid around but probably more truth than not, I want to see all my dogs with my family members right behind them. Hope I’m not too terrible in wanting to see my Jax dog and all the special dogs who gave me the unconditional love I needed throughout my life. So truthfully, Karen, will we see our beloved dogs who have crossed over before us when we die or are they in a different place?

    • Karen Anderson says:

Fear not, Catherine…they will be there when you transition. There is no separation. There are levels to advance along upward as the soul continues to expand and grow. That growth is like graduation from junior high school into high school. Your focus is onward and upward not backward. This is true for the afterlife. The goal is to go onward and upward not backward. Your departed human loved ones and departed pets will all be in the same place when you transition as they are your soul group. Some may be further along on the spiritual journey than others but they will all be there for you when your time comes. Sending love…

  25. Melinda says:

I loved this message. I don’t feel a constant presence of my departed pets, and I don’t have a developed ability in this area, though I’ve experienced a few fleeting things. Most recently, I had an event in my life that along with other circumstances, such as those most of us are currently experiencing, I felt very alone. I had a mini meltdown and was very emotional. I wasn’t thinking about my pets at all, but suddenly I had a very clear thought come into my head that said “I’m here”, and had a strong sense that my dog who died in 2007 (the one I’ve had the strongest bond with of any and miss to this day) was with me. I have no doubt that he still has a strong bond with me and knows when I need him. Thank you for validating what I believe. It is very comforting.

  26. Sally Karpe says:

Hi Karen I am learning so much about our energetic connections! I have never felt that my precious Shetland Sheepdog, Sky, went away. I recognise her loss in physical form, but I really believe that Love Never Dies, just changes form. I believe that she sent Simba, my 2 year old Sheltie, to me. Ironically Simba was an ‘accident’, born roughly the same time that Sky transitioned. My relationship with Sky is different now, but I never speak of her in the past tense.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Sally, this is so special! The bonds of love never die you are so right. I’m sure your angel Sky sent Simba your way. There are no coincidences in my world…everything happens for a reason. Yay you for paying attention! I’m so happy for you.
      Sending love…

  27. Laura says:

Thank you, Karen. This is important. As you will recall, cat Lady Jane passed in our home at age 17 on May 13th, the hardest loss I’ve ever experienced. On the other hand, I’ve never felt anyone’s (animal or human) spirit around me so strongly afterward. I felt her jump on the bed; it moved, just like it would have if her body had been with her. I asked her spirit to help us find the right next cat and heard, “I’m on it, Mama!” 7 1/2 weeks later, we adopted Linn the kitten, who has nearly tripled in size since we brought her home July 5th. She is so much like Lady in many ways, but very much her own Linn Linn kitten. We know that Lady helped us find Linn. I still often see flashes of Lady in my peripheral vision, I still feel her presence. The day before yesterday, the ball in the roller tray started rolling “on its own” when Linn was in a different room and not playing with it. That was Lady’s invisible paw, letting me know she’s still part of the family and loves how we have a new family member, the one she helped us find.

Laura, thank you so much for this! I am smiling as I reply because this is a perfect example of what others should be looking for after a pet dies. They are still with you, in their favorite places, watching over you with so much love. I’m sure she is visiting through Linn Linn’s energy from time to time too.
One more thing, be sure to make a big deal out of any visits and messages because they love it and will send MORE signs when you pay attention.
      Sending love…

Karen, I am not sure if you remember me. You and I talked some about 2.5 years ago. I had a kitten named Ace (he was black and white) that passed away at 10 months old. And his death was so hard for me it awakened me and put me on a spiritual path. I actually have learned to communicate with animals since then. Well I just wanted you to know that I actually got Ace back! He was born about 5 months after the passing of Ace as an orange and white kitten that he and I decided to name Chace.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Ann! Wow! I just got goosebumps!!!! Yay for you and Ace/Chace! Love that! You are so sweet to share this with me and when others read this and wonder why something terrible happens such as the loss of a pet at a young age, there is a bigger reason, a more meaningful purpose in your life that you are meant to experience. It won’t make any sense at the time but everything happens for a reason. I’m so very happy for you! Big hugs

Dear Karen, let me please ask a question – there are so many animals in this world which have so much to suffer – I just think about all this animals slaughtered and before treated so bad! For example – born here in middle Europe and transported to countries far away with no food, no water and there being killed. It is millions and millions every year! They never got any love but a lot of pain. What happen to them? How is life going on for them? Reinkarnation? in this terrible world? And I wonder if ever there is a change in this world? Thank you so much for reply! Love!

    Dear Karen,
I have reached out to several people, psychics included, but no one seems to be able to answer my questions. I need help!
About three months ago I felt a small creature walking across my bed. It curled up next to me. I could feel a warmth and fur. It seemed to be too small to be one of my dogs that have transitioned already.
It started to come two or three times a week, then every night, as soon as I came to bed, and now it is every day all day. I feel a presence in my computer room and I feel something sitting on my chair behind me. Sometimes I feel as though there are two of them. One will curl up over my feet, whilst one is sleeping by my side. I honestly do not know what to make of it. It does not frighten me in any way, in fact it comforts me, and I look forward to its (their) visits.
Is it a spirit animal? Is it a pet I had when I was younger? Why am I being visited now? How should I communicate with them? Please help me if you can.
    Kindest regards,
    Victoria

      Victoria,
That is truly incredible that you are having so many visitations. There is no way for me to tell who is visiting you without conducting a session and even then we may not know exactly who it is or why they are there. It could be someone connected to you or to the house or the land itself. There are many possibilities. Trust what you are sensing first and foremost. It sounds like you enjoy the visits and feel comforted. Unfortunately, my calendar is closed but a professional medium can communicate with the spirits for you. Use caution before attempting any communication if you are not properly trained in mediumship. You may find a remote viewer who can tap in remotely or someone local who can visit your location. Sending love…

  31. Nelson says:

    Aloha Karen,
I wrote to you earlier during my darkest moments. I’m the one who was struggling with his painful childhood of lack of love, support, sustenance and abuse. Ironically I am now the caregiver of these very same parents who never gave me the love that I needed. Charlie came into my life during my struggles and was my source of love. I had adopted him from a litter that was headed to the animal shelter. I chose the very one that most likely would have been put to sleep. It turned out he had liver shunt. He suffered from his congenital defect throughout his life. He had to endure eating prescription food that he did not like. He had to endure lots of medications and painful visits to the hospital which involved tubes down his nose and being away from me for days. As if his pain and suffering was not enough.
Charlie seemed very human to me. He liked to sleep with a pillow under his head. He preferred human food which he could not have due to his strict diet. He communicated with me in unconventional ways. For example, if we’re in bed, he would get up and hover over me and look into my eyes and tap me with his paw on my chest under the blanket and I knew he wanted to join me under the covers. There he would snuggle with me completely under the blanket. After he passed away I have been finding myself feeling toasty under the blanket when that was not the usual for me before he came around. It’s like he still sleeps under the blanket with me.
Charlie passed away on the evening of Mother’s Day this year. On Monday, the next day, I was laying down when I smelled his scent which I always made a comment to him about jokingly when he was alive. Out of the blue at around the same time of his passing the evening before I had a whiff of him which was only for a second or two. At the time I was too much in grief from the raw emotions to respond. The following week or so I was cleaning up the back of my friends car for him. He helped me to transport Charlie to the hospital that night. By the rear area of the car where I had transported Charlie in a kennel there was a gold wedding band. I told my friend that I had found a ring in his car and he said it did know anything about it. Then I put two and two together and realized that the day of Charlie’s passing may have had something to do with the ring. Was it a gift from Charlie? I don’t know. Was this a ring a sign to me of our past relationship? Could he have been my mother in our past life? Was he my wife in my past life? I don’t know. That leads me to my question regarding past lives which may answer other readers’ questions here: are humans able to reincarnate as dogs and humans as dogs? I ask this because I have come across information that confirms this possibility. In fact, a snake had returned as boy. And this case was documented with evidence such as the snake bite that his killer had received from him. Then there is the case of a father who promised to return as his daughter’s dog. This story was shared by another medium.
I am feeling a little better now after having found the ring. It was reassuring to me that Charlie is still around. But that feeling of emptiness from having lost your companion is very difficult and obviously painful. I often wish that I would pass away so that I can rejoin my beloved fur baby. He was to me my child. Life loses meaning when you lose your companion. Now I understand how partners sometimes soon follow their beloved one after he or she dies. This heartbreak can be very debilitating. Listening to your Amazing Afterlife of Animals has been a godsend. I believe Charlie led me to your book and to you. I have received your email that tells me that you do read our letters. In it you told me how you, too, dealt with an abusive relationship so you know what it’s like. And I did notice how you mentioned The Secret and I have watched that self-help movie. I believe that everyone can be helped by positive thinking as positive thinking begets positive things from the universe. It’s just that I am still struggling with the fact that God could allow my innocent companion to suffer. His last day was very painful and to this day my heart aches because of that. I still blame myself. I know that you point out that when they cross over they forgive everything. But I’m only human. I still feel a lot of pain and sorrow each day.
I just realized that I may have been Charlie’s mother in a past life. I had an experience before Charlie died wherein a transparent dog was at the foot of my bed as Charlie slept at night. The dog licked my foot and the whole experience felt so real plain as day. It could have been Charlie beginning to transition. On my right side was a boy which I realize might have been Charlie where he lay. He giggled when I kissed his hand like a mother would. The day of his passing and the wedding with diamonds just seemed to be too much of a coincidence. This ring was not an ordinary ring. It was not costume jewelry. I checked the inscription and it shows that it was made by a major company, MK, that specializes in wedding bands.
I wanted to add another thing in regards to the ring. I believe that Charlie might have sent me the ring to compensate me for all the financial cost of caring for him. He knew that I was not employed because I was caring for my parents. Their specialist told me that I couldn’t go back to work because they needed constant supervision and care. It was his way of saying thank you to me for all that I had done for him and all the sacrifice. He did thank me before he died in a song, Thank You For Being A Friend, by Andrew Gold. It’s like he sang it to me as it played and he stared at me. Again, here’s another kicker, Andrew GOLD, and then a GOLD ring. It is all making sense to me now. Charlie, like I said, was very humanlike. He may have been my mother (Mother’s Day) or my son as he appeared to me as a boy (again, Mother’s Day) in our past life. Children was not part of my current life plan and so Charlie appeared in my life as a dog. Or he was simply trying to thank me for being a friend. I will never know until one day when I finally return home like Charlie and be reunited with him again. In which case, thank you, Charlie, for being a friend. You were the light in the darkness and you taught me so much. If it weren’t for you, I would still be in the darkness.
Thank you for listening to comment. I know you may not be able to answer any of my questions as you are a busy person. You might not even come across this post. But I send it out for Charlie. I am aware that you receive tons of emails. That must be draining on you. As the caregiver of two demented parents I feel exhausted spiritually each day. Most of all, thank you for providing us pet parents a place to share so that others may benefit from it.
Much love in body and spirit,
    Nelson

I am so sorry for the loss of your angel, Charlie. You have many questions that can be answered with my book, The Amazing Afterlife of Animals. I’m so glad you are listening to it now.
Our departed loved ones send us signs in many shapes, forms, and colors. Finding a ring could definitely be a sign. My book shares details of reincarnation based on my experience so be sure to ‘listen’ to that chapter for more about that process.
I believe you were guided to my book by Charlie as we are often guided by our loved ones toward those who can help us move into healing and to open our spiritual perspective. I have no doubt you were guided to me.
Please be sure to opt in on my HOME page for emails. That is the best way I can provide you with the loving support you deserve.
I’ll provide you with more information about the afterlife and how to move forward into healing.
I am sure of one thing. Your love for Charlie and Charlie’s love for you is all that really matters. The pain he endured would likely never be mentioned he would only focus on the love you share. We have much to learn from them.
Find solace in the bond you share and those precious memories that are forever in your heart.
Charlie will always be with you as there is nowhere else he would rather be.
      Sending love and healing
