Each day, I receive heartfelt messages from those who are searching for a sign from a beloved companion on the other side. If you’ve found yourself wondering, “Is that really my pet reaching out?” you’re not alone. The longing for connection is natural, and the afterlife is filled with gentle ways our departed loved ones let us know they’re near.
As I continue my work supporting grieving pet parents, I am reminded every day of the strength and resilience within each of us. As you carve a path through grief and pain after a loss, remember to reflect on the infinite love you and your companion shared. Whether you’re new to this journey or have been seeking answers about afterlife signs for a while, I want you to know that your experiences matter, and your connections are real. Never doubt them.
Our animal companions are incredibly resourceful when it comes to sending afterlife messages. These signs can be subtle or bold, fleeting or persistent. The most important thing is to keep your heart open and your mind receptive, even when doubt tries to creep in.
Dream Visits: Vivid dreams where your pet appears happy, healthy, or communicates with you. These dreams often feel different—more real, comforting, and leave a lasting impression.
Orbs and Unusual Lights: Unexpected flashes, orbs in photos, or gentle glows in your home can all be signs of a loving presence. If you notice an orb, take a closer look—sometimes a familiar shape appears within.
Meaningful Sounds: Hearing your pet’s collar jingle, the patter of paws, or a familiar meow or bark, especially when no pets are present, is a common sign.
Sudden Scents: Catching a whiff of your companion’s scent or a fragrance that reminds you of them, even if you haven’t smelled it in a long time.
Physical Sensations: Feeling a gentle brush against your leg, a soft pressure on your bed, or a comforting warmth beside you.
Unexplained Animal Behavior: Other pets in the home may look at a certain spot, act excited, or behave as if they see someone you cannot.
Finding Feathers, Coins, or Objects: Repeatedly finding small objects in unusual places can be a sign. Many report finding white feathers or coins shortly after a loss.
Watch for Patterns or Repeating Messages: As I mentioned above, watch for repeating signs, numbers, or messages. Our beloved companions will continue to send the same message or a similar message to get our attention.
Ask your departed companion for a clear, unmistakable sign—and trust that it will come in the right way and time.
Keep a journal by your bedside to record dreams or moments that feel significant. Over time, patterns may emerge.
Take photos in your home or favorite outdoor spots—sometimes orbs or shapes appear unexpectedly.
Stay patient and gentle with yourself. Not every sign will be obvious, and some companions choose subtle ways to show their love.

Thank you, Karen. This is just what I needed. I’ve been so deeply lost since my angel, Joey, passed away. I found your books and now have your email updates and I am finally feeling like I can breathe again. I would do anything to see his sweet face again but your words help me find peace.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your sweet Joey. It is a painful journey when we must say goodbye. It hurts to breathe as you mentioned. I’m so glad my books and updates are helping you find peace and balance.
I just had a white feather appear out of nowhere last week. I was missing my golden retriever Ollie so much. I walked into my bedroom and on the floor where his bed used to be was a perfect white feather. Then today, I get this from you. I know it is him letting me know he is near. Thank you, Karen.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. There are no coincidences when it comes to signs from the afterlife. Be grateful and ask for more. It is an incredible feeling when they send a sign. your boy, Ollie will always be with you.
For the past few months, I’ve struggled with the loss of my dalmation mix, Jethro. He was such an amazing friend and we went everywhere together. Your books have helped me so much. I talk to him every day now and I started to get little gifts. I know it is him. I found nickels in unexpected places. He was born in May and my birthday is on the 5th and five has always been my favorite number. I miss him so much it hurts but your books have helped me move into a place of peace. Thank you.
I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet boy, Jethro. Everything changes when they go. Life is suddenly different. So, very difficult just to get through the day. I’m so happy to hear he is sending you nickels. That is amazing! Keep asking for signs and never doubt them. I’m honored to be a positive part of your healing journey through my books.
God bless you and your work, Karen. You are such a wonderful person, helping us who are in so much pain and helping animals who have suffered so much. You have inspired me to start an animal rescue because every life matters. Blessings to you and all the animals.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It is an honor to share all I have learned from the animals. Losing a beloved companion is utterly devastating so I’ve made it my life’s work to ease that pain.
I am thrilled to hear that you are inspired to open an animal sanctuary. If all animal lovers would do just one thing to help animals in need it would be lifechanging. Let no one stand in your way of your goal. Blessings to you as well, my friend.
Hi Karen,
I lost my Cinnamon 3 1/2 years ago on January 26, 2022 on an early, cold, dark, January morning. We had just gone out for a fast pee pee when we were struck by an SUV driver who wasn’t looking. He was stopped & waved ’Thank you’ but he wasn’t looking & plowed into us. I crawled over to her in a pool of blood & yelled out “Cinnamon!” She wagged her tail so I KNOW SHE HEARD ME. Then she went to the Bridge as I was being loaded onto a stretcher – I remember saying “I can’t believe this is happening.” Then I blacked out.
I was near-fatally injured & still, after 3 1/2 years, wish that I had gone with my Cinnie. The memory – or nightmare, I should say, of that horrific morning haunts me every day & every night.
I’ve joined a Pet Loss Support Grief Forum & it has helped me a great deal as well as my being able to help others. I’m an Admin of Cinnamon’s threads). BTW – it was Julie who told me about you 🙂
I miss my Cinnie so much. I lived for that little girl.
Thanks for listening

Or perhaps, one day, we will realize that only love matters. I’m honored to be a positive part of your journey. Sending love and healing…
