I was alone in the house cleaning up after making a batch of pumpkin bread. My energy was high in celebration as I just launched my book, The Pet I Can’t Forget on Audible. With holiday music in the background I sang along and as I wiped the kitchen counter. As I glanced toward the fireplace, I saw someone sitting quietly on my sofa holding up a book. I recognized her immediately. It was my departed mother-in-law, Maureen. She smiled as we made eye contact and in the blink of an eye, vanished.
In that split second, I felt a wave of love and goosebumps wash over me. Although we never met in person, I instantly knew Maureen was congratulating me. After a long, three-year journey, my book was complete and available worldwide. Uploading my book to Audible.com was the last stage of that journey. Maureen loved animals and I felt every ounce of her joy for my accomplishment.
Your loved ones are with you, too, and they never miss a holiday or special event. Whether you are missing a beloved animal companion or human loved ones, trust they are there. It may not feel like they are present but most of the time their energy is so subtle even sensitives like me can barely notice them.
It is okay to not be okay when waves of bittersweet memories from the past envelope you. That is a clear a sign your loved ones are near. In Chapter 46: Good Grief, of The Pet I Can’t Forget, you’ll discover all the ways that grief activates healing and strengthens the bonds with your loved ones.
Tell them right now how much you miss them. They will hear you and be fueled by your powerful sentiments. Trust they are right by your side surrounding you with love and gratitude as there is nowhere else they would rather be.

Thank you for this post. My angel, Louie has appeared several times in the corner of my eye. I used to think it was just my imagination until I read your book. The Pet I Can’t Forget has helped me so much. I am still deeply grieving but now I encourage him to send signs and 9 out of 10 times, he does. I am forever grateful to you, Karen.
I’m so honored to be a positive part of your journey. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with me. I have no doubt your angel, Louie is there by your side.
I get signs like this too. I know exactly what you mean. It is an indescribable feeling that you know it is them. My mom and my cat, Maple, make their presence known. I know they are together and your stories and podcasts have helped me reconnect with them. I have given all my friends your books and plan to keep gifting them in the future. I’m so grateful I found you.
It is incredible when it happens. It is easy to brush off as your imagination but once you know what to look for or how it feels, there is no denying what you see! Thank you for your kindness.
I have heard messages from relatives who have passed. Recently my dog of almost 16 yrs passed. I have been devestated.
I think I am earing messaes from Tanner but not sure. Some are loud and clear others not so much. I went to oneo f our favorite palce to eat and heard him say in a small voice, “OH! That is soooooo good!!” I had to laugh. He was the only person or animal who had ever been there with me and infact ate my whole steak once. Tonight I was crying and heard the small voice keep saying “don’t cry mama…over and over”. Once I stopped crying voice said, “you are so beautiful!” Beautiful I am not, especially with a tear stained face! I lost Tanner and my niece, 2 of my best buds in less than 2 weeks. I am having a difficult time with this grief. Is Tanner really talking to me?? Or is this something I am thinking or making up in my mind??? It seems to comes out of the blue which makes me laugh or cry. Mama Sonni
I am so sorry for all your losses. When grief accumulates with multiple losses the pain can compound and feel overwhelming. Be patient and kind to yourself and honor all you feel. Only you know if that is your angel Tanner speaking to you. An afterlife session may confirm his communication with you but it is not guaranteed. If you feel it is from him, then likely it is. Trust your first instincts. Many would love to have such communication from a departed loved one so be sure to thank him for sending those messages. Ask for more if you want more! Our loved ones are always near watching over us and checking in on us. I wrote about this in my books. Order worldwide on AMAZON So many inspiring stories just like yours!
