Are You Blocked? Tips to Overcome Common Animal Communication Blocks

Have you seen an orb like this?
March 17, 2025

I recently received a heartfelt question from Lori, who shared her struggle with the grief after losing one beloved pet while also experiencing anticipatory grief (a term I discuss in my book) for her other companion who was not doing well. She wants to learn Animal Communication, but feels that her emotions are holding her back.

This is a crucial topic because grief can block our growth and intuition. In my response, I share insights on how to navigate these emotional barriers, restore balance, and open your heart to deeper connections with animals.

Lori asks:

“Hi, and thank you for all you are putting out there.  I’ve learned so much.  I love listening to you, Karen.

I feel I am not emotionally balanced. I’ve tried Animal Communication, and I know and understand that you have to have your emotions in check.

I believe my problem is the grief of losing one dog and the anticipatory grief (a term I learned in your book) of another of my dear companions.

What would be the best way to help overcome these blocks?”

ANSWER:

There are many different ways to overcome these issues, but here are some that have worked for me and my clients:

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved companion. Losing one is hard enough, without the added burden of anticipatory grief.  These feelings will indeed affect your state of mind as you begin your journey into animal communication.

It is always best to be emotionally balanced before you begin. Finding that space of peace and calmness may be challenging even for the most advanced students.

Grief can interfere with your thoughts and energy on every level.

The way our bodies store grief is still a mystery, but it is one you can unlock with time, patience, and persistence.

Anticipatory grief is quite simply the grief you experience before a loss.

This type of grief can be just as paralyzing and overwhelming as the grief you experience after a loss. Grief is also cumulative. It builds up like tartar on your teeth, and if that grief is unresolved, meaning you avoided it, the painful emotions can resurface with even greater ferocity down the road and sabotage your ability to learn a new skill.

I wrote about this in my book, The Pet I Can’t Forget. Keep in mind, I am not a certified grief expert, but I have experienced a lot of grief from losses over the years.

The best way to move forward on your journey and to break the cycle of anticipatory grief or unresolved grief is to set a goal with small steps and outline a simple plan, and inspired action.

I’ve been coaching animal communication for almost 30 years, so this is how to get started. There are no shortcuts, so roll up your sleeves and put your game face on.

  1. Decide on a goal, such as learning how to communicate with animals
  2. Set your plan into motion by practicing and being patient with yourself
  3. Surround yourself with those who support your goals
  4. Embrace your emotions even when it hurts. That pain is a reflection of love
  5. Slowly increase the number of times you practice each week
  6. Trust the process. Lean in. Learn all you can about your new goal
  7. Life is full of distractions, blocks, or obstacles. Go forward with a winning mindset
  8. Have a ceremony and say goodbye to all the old feelings that no longer support your goals
  9. Let go of anything or anyone that no longer serves your highest and best interests, with daily intentions
  10. Celebrate every small victory
  11. Never quit

If you have a winning mindset, you can accomplish just about anything you set your mind to. My online course is a great way to receive the loving, private support and coaching needed to develop your skills.

Thanks so much for this Karen! I’ve been hesitating to start learning because I am drowning in grief. Knowing I can take positive steps really helps.

I did not know this course was private. That’s incredible that you do that. Most courses I’ve looked into are for groups with meetings or just slide shows. No personal feedback.

Before I found you, I attended one course and there were 50 others on the Zoom coaching call. I never got to speak to the coach. Needless to say, I left that program.

I’m going to hop on now and do this. I’m so excited to learn from you and so glad I found you.

Thank you for all you do for the animals too.

Yes, completely private. Just you and me. No meetings, no groups, just the two of us focusing on your goals. This course is really unique. I don’t know of any others like it.

The personal attention is usually reserved for more advanced courses, but I believe getting started is the most important step.

I look forward to being your coach.

I’m John and I’m taking this course right now. Just so others know, Karen is the most amazing coach. She responds to every question and every practice session. Her insight and guidance has made all the difference in the world.

The course is content rich. So many animals to practice with and opportunities to sharpen skills.

I’m loving the section with animals from the afterlife the most. Their messages are incredible.

Karen, thank you, I never thought I would be able to connect with my girl, Sassy, but now, thanks to you, I can.

    • Karen Anderson says:

Thanks so much, John. I appreciate your kind words. You are doing so well in the program. I love how you ask the animals questions that cannot be validated. Those responses have been mind blowing. I love coaching so this is truly special to be able to help you on your journey.

  3. Suzanna says:

Karen I must have been guided to your site by my angel, Twinkle. She passed away last month and I’ve been desperately trying to communicate with her. Will this course teach me how to communicate with her?

Should I wait until I am not crying every day?

Thank you for all you do, your blog and your app and youtube podcasts got me through the darkest days.

    • Karen Anderson says:

I am so sorry for your loss. It is utterly devastating to say goodbye. My heart goes out to you.

It is always best to be emotionally balanced before you begin any new skill. So I will leave that up to you. But, you can always get started now and if you need to take a break or grieve, this course is self-paced.

You log in when you want to practice. There is no time frame or ending date.

Sometimes a distraction, like taking this course, is good for the soul. It takes your mind off other things and lets you focus on something more positive.

Plus, you have my full guarantee of a refund for 14 days so nothing to worry about if it isn’t for you.

Thanks for all your kind words about my work. I’m truly honored to be a positive part of your journey.
