Happy Halloween!
Spooky Savings and Scary Photos

                                                                                                                     Oct 2009
Greetings!

Do you have someone in your life who drains the energy right out of you?

Find out how these psychic vampires and negative energies affect us.  Click here for the full story and spooky photos.  Be sure to scroll all the way down.

And you won't want to miss this video....have tissues ready: Baxter the therapy dog

This is the time of year we harvest everything from the garden and get all the animals ready for winter.  The horses have been getting extra rations and sweet feed, the barn cats have heat lamps over their cozy beds.  Even the hen house is ready with heat lamps and insulation to keep it warm inside.  ravioli vegetable soup

The colder weather brings us inside to enjoy the bounty of our harvest.  This ravioli and vegetable soup is one of my favorites using all the fresh veggies from the garden.

Fun fact: Cats prefer to eat their food at 86 degrees F

Of course there was an abundance of zucchini and this is a delicious way to enjoy it. I'm not very good at baking but I found this Cooking Light version for chocolate zucchini cake recipe very easy to follow.  I made it even healthier by replacing the sugar with a natural sugar or sugar substitute and using apple sauce to replace the oil. YUM! It didn't even need the frosting!

I hope you take time to prepare your animals for the colder weather.  They feel cold and wind just like we do.  Be extra attentive to the very old animals and the very young animals.  They need extra care and protection during the colder months.

Fun fact: Dogs are omnivorous, they need more than just meat to flourish

Remember to love your animals each and every day.  They are a gift from God and we never know how long we will have them in our lives.

Peace and abundance,

Dear Karen,
Do animals understand words? I have some friends who say they don't. I do animal reiki at a local shelter and feel in my heart that they were listening to every word I was saying.
Thank you,
Shelly H

Dear Shelly,
Tell your friends YES! Animals absolutely understand words.  Some if it is by word association, like saying the word 'treat' and then they get a treat. Other times they understand our words by the images that flash in our minds.  For instance, if you are thinking about taking your dog for a walk, he may get all excited and run to the door even before you say anything or get his leash.  How does he know? He has simply tuned in to your thoughts.  As we think or speak out loud, we form images in our minds that flash like mini movies or pictures. Animals are very good at picking up these images and understanding them.  Thank you Shelly for the wonderful work you do for shelter animals.
Blessings,
Karen

So Many Animals Are Lost During Halloween

Every year after Halloween so many lost animals calls come in. Most of these situations could have been prevented. Here are some tips to keep pets safe:

Keep Your Animals Safe This Halloween
  • Make sure your animals are safely contained on Halloween
  • Keep them in a back room with soft music playing or a fan going to help drown out noise
  • Take no chances! Even well behaved animals can become frightened by costumes, loud voices and all the commotion at the front door
  • Have a proper ID tags on all animals
  • Have a recent, full color photo of your animals including a close up head shot

Many times clients call Karen as their last resort and too much time has gone by.

The faster you get the word out the sooner you can find your pet...

Karen only takes Lost Animals cases if she thinks she can help.
