Greetings!
The warmer
weather takes us outside to enjoy the sunshine with our
animals. Be sure you are protecting yourself and your
animals with proper sunscreen protection.
White animals are
especially sensitive to the harmful effects of the sun
and wind. Check with your veterinarian for safe,
non-toxic products or try one of the items below.
Please read all labels
closely. Don't use dog flea products on cats!
Use common sense with outdoor animals by
providing plenty of fresh water, shade and toys
or other things to keep them busy while you are at
work.
Don't forget the farm
animals. Horses can be harassed by biting flies as the
weather warms up. Try a
natural fly spray
and please
provide them with
fly masks.

I hope to see some of the locals
at
Spokane Petfest this
weekend. I'll be taking my two little ones to the event
for fun...not to exhibit.
I bid you and all the
animals in your life a safe and happy summer season.
Blessings,
Karen

This is Jacob- He is a gorgeous Golden

be around 2. He will make someone a great pet if they are

We get letters! Here are a few recent ones:
Dear Karen,
Do animals reincarnate? If so, how will I know it is my
animal? What if I miss her somehow? I would be devastated.
DeAnne, Modesto, CA
Hi DeAnne,
Yes animals do reincarnate. In fact I
write about this in my book,
"Hear All
Creatures" click here to order.
One little dog told me about his
favorite past life as an octopus! I listed two recent
experiences below of animals who have returned to their
humans. Be sure to check it out!
Blessings,
Karen
Dear
Karen,
Do animals let you know if they want another animal in the
house? There are so many at the shelters I would love to
have more pets at home. My dog, Zoe is not friendly with
other animals and I'm not sure how she will get along with
another cat or dog in the house. What do you recommend?
Leslie, Honolulu HI
Hi Leslie,
I am often asked to check in with
animals to see if they want a companion. Some are very
clear that they do not want any other animal in the house.
They enjoy being the 'only child' and can be very upset if
you bring someone new home. Others tell me how bored they
are and welcome a friend. I always recommend seeing how
they feel first. Are they open to a new friend or would
they be frustrated and upset by the intrusion? Each animal
is different and may have different needs.
Blessings,
Karen
Dear
Karen,
Do dogs dream? If so, what
do they typically dream about ? Things from their past
(such as bad/good memories); things that happened during
their day; things they saw; or something altogether
different?
Caly, Scotch Plains, NJ
Hi Caly,
We have all seen our
animals twitching, flinching, faux running and whimpering in
their sleep from time to time. The animals tell me they
have fantastic dreams. Some cats have told me of great
adventures and hunting expeditions they have dreamed about
and dogs have told me how they are running, chasing toys or
dashing about. They have both good and bad dreams just like
we do. Most of it is fun and enjoyable for them. One of my
cats Choo Choo leaped out of a deep sleep with a terrified
look on her face. I asked her what was wrong and she told me
she had 'fallen from a high tree branch' in her sleep. She
was a bit shaken at first but quickly put it behind her.
Most of their dreams are in vivid color and very exciting.
Blessings,
Karen
